All I Ask.

I’ve never asked a man to buy me anything. No diamond rings, or Louboutins. No designer purse. Or satchel. Or tote. Not even a wallet.

I’ve never asked a man to take me anywhere. No sightseeing in France, or backpacking in South East Asia. Not even the panoramic suite at the Aria.

I’ve never asked a man to pay a toll to get to my heart. To spend money on me. Spa me. Champagne me. To lavish me with anything other than his loyalty and respect.

I’ve never asked a man to live for me. To plan his schedule around mine. To make me his world. To make me his life.

I’ve never asked anything from a man that I couldn’t give him as well. The assumption is women are unreasonable, and unrealistic with what we want from men. All I’ve ever asked was for him to love me as much as I loved him.

And yet, that was still too much to ask for.
