The Write Time.

I fucking love books. Someone go get me a t-shirt with that on the front STAT! If I had my box of books in Cali with me now, I could finally start reading the Game of Thrones paperback I borrowed from Steve over a year ago (sorry bro). You know how chicks buy clothes when they still have shit hanging in their closet with the tags still on them? That’s me – except with books.

Anyway, a few weeks ago I posted a picture of my Christmas gift from Jeyel on Instagram. It was the book The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. I already own this book, but it’s in that same damn box back home probably nestled on top of Game of Thrones. What’s funny is I remember reading it the first time back in 2004 and thinking what a crock of shit. In 2010 I wrote this post, contemplated on giving it another chance, then gave up after the first chapter. Yet there I was on my flight back to New York, two days after Christmas flipping through its pages so fast I almost finished it by the time I landed. It was exactly what I needed at the exact time I needed it.

Ever since I finished The Alchemist (for the second time), it won’t leave me the fuck alone. I’ve been seeing it everywhere! It’s as if Rihanna Tweeted a picture of herself reading it and the world went bananas. Maybe it’s just a coincidence. Or maybe Coelho is right, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” I don’t know which is write. All I know is it was a great Christmas gift, and an even greater reminder that if you want something bad enough, it’s more of a question of “when” you’ll get it rather than “if” *ahem*.

When everything falls into place, and I’m reunited with my books, I think I’m going to donate my original copy of The Alchemist. Write something inside the front cover, and maybe just leave it somewhere. In hopes that I could possibly help conspire someone to find their “treasure” too.
