It’s been 3 1/2 weeks since I moved to New York, and 2 1/2 weeks since I’ve actually been living here. Since my friends from the Bay headed back home, I’ve spent most of my time exploring the neighborhood, getting lost in NYC, and looking for a job. For the record, I didn’t move with the intention of landing a writing gig (although that would be amazing). I moved to network, and feel uncomfortable in hopes that the transition would inspire me to focus on/write my book and hustle harder. So far it’s working. Below are some pics (in no particular order) of what I’ve been doing in between, enjoy!
- Citifield Stadium, home of the Mets
- Dope view from right field.
- The Suite life.
- This outfit finally makes sense now. Shirt + skirt F21, thigh highs H&M, knee high boots Timberland
- The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
- Statue of Perseus, the Greek hero that killed Medusa. Cold world.
- Murikame at the Warhol exhibit and tribute.
- Breathtaking view of the fountain in the Egyptian Art wing.
- Chivalry ain’t dead.
- Cupid’s chokehold
- Lunch w/ Akeita and Marla (taking the pic) at ABC Restaurant (BEAUTIFUL DESIGN)
- Part of the Cabo fam at the regular spot.
- “Even if it ain’t all it seems, I gotta pocket full of dreams …”
- Caught Grandfather performing at Glasslands! That’s Jess’s man Phil doing the damn thang on the drums.
- Housing Works (?), one of the many random bookstores/coffee shops I wound up at.
- Sam Dew of Cloudeater, and writer extraordinaire
Just had to add that The Met is now easily one of my favorite spots in New York. I could roam around for HOURS. Wait, I did roam around for hours. There were certain rooms that left me literally breathless. If you’re into art and history, I highly suggest visiting whether you’re a resident or a tourist. I originally went for the Warhol exhibit, but got SO MUCH MORE.

Welcome to NY! I’m sure you’ll get a lot out of moving here. I believe in making yourself uncomfortable sometimes and just learning and exploring new things. And maybe our paths will cross at some point.
